Schools Pathway Tutor (Agriculture)


About the role

Support and guide students through our Schools Pathway Programmes. This programme provides year 9 and 10 students with a pathway to the Trades Academy Programme and teaches a broad range of skills in the primary industry sectors including agriculture and horticulture.

In this role you would:

  • Deliver quality Schools Pathway Programmes by providing students with consistent, dynamic, and valuable learning experience.
  • Tutor and enable students to have the theoretical and practical knowledge to be set up for a career pathway in the primary industry sectors.
  • Create a safe learning environment for all students, by following safe work practices and procedures. 
  • Ensure all student results, reviews and evaluations are completed promptly.
  • Manage relationships with farmers, schools, and other key stakeholders.

This is a fixed-term role located in the Tararua district for 10-20 hours per week depending on the availability of the successful candidate. This role will commence as soon as possible dependent on candidate availability and is expected to continue until mid-December 2026.

 

About you

Ideally, we are looking for someone with:

  • Practical experience and knowledge in agriculture/farming/the primary industries.
  • A safety-first mindset with a good track record of following safe work practices.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills.
  • Experience supporting or interacting with young people. 

Experience passing on knowledge through coaching, tutoring, or teaching is desired but not essential. On the job training and support will be provided.
